Bryncrug/Llanfihangel Byelection next thursday.

Therere will be a byelection om Gwynedd county council: Bryncrug/Llanfihangel division on 14 June after no candidates were nominated for the May elections.

There seems to be Plenty of Candidates This Time

Clarke, Nancy Elizabeth Independent
Evans, Alun Wyn Plaid Cymru
Hughes, Gwyn Pennant The Voice of Gwynedd
Lawton, Beth Independent
Pughe, John Independent

If Plaid where to win here it would give them a One seat overall Majority and wouuld mean they are the onlly Political party apart from Labour to have an overall Majority on a Welsh Council

But they have recently entered into coalition so the outcome will not change the make up of Gwynedd..

However in entering coalition Plaid have changed their policy of sharing important posts with the other Parties even when they where in a Majority.

The reason maybe to enhance policy decisions or it could also make sure that there are no major defections when the difficult decisions are made. People with imprtant portfolios tend to be more loyal.

The fact that this election will no longer affect theMakeup of the Council   may explain the lack of Meisa Interest in this election .

There are a number of fortcoming by elections

Isle of Anglesey county council: There are two vacancies. Llanbedrgoch division is vacant after the resignation of unaffiliated councillor Barrie Durkin who was suspended from the council. Gwyngyll division is vacant after the resignation of John Penri Williams of Plaid Cymru. Both terms end in 2013.

Vale of Glamorgan council: Vacancy in Buttrills division after the death of former council leader, Mayor and Labour councillor Margaret Alexander. Term ends 2017. Plaid had a decent vote here in may so they may hope to pick up a seat.
