No question brexit was in large part motivated by an ugly nascent british nationalism, and deeply disappointing to see so many people in Wales are willing to ally themselves with such a reactionary political development.

Furthermore you have to wonder where the emergence of a mass 'rule britannia' psychology - which brexit has certainly helped engender - leaves Wales and its existence as a nation in its own right?

Both myself and glyn have been clear on our blogs that welsh support for brexit - and apparent support for theresa may's tories - poses real dangers to welsh nationhood. Indeed i would argue that the current political situation poses more serious a risk to wales national identity than the devolution disaster did in 1979.Leigh Richardshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10598475954140926742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2133809191630290599.post-63052246108587913872017-04-26T19:29:55.647+01:002017-04-26T19:29:55.647+01:00Glyn,
I have asked you before if you can help me ...Glyn,
I have asked you before if you can help me understand why Wales voted Leave. I am now even more gobsmacked by the polls that Cymru is going to vote Tory.
The Tories will make some gains in Scotland too -they have got there act together after the red Tories (you know who I mean) were chucked out, and will have the unionist vote.... But what is happening in Wales? In Scotland, it might be 50 independence to 16 unionist, but Wales looks like going Tory.... Contrast with Scotland who are being hailed as a strong European country and will be welcome with open arms when it votes for independence.

To answer you headline, after campaigning I've come to the conclusion that a majority of LEAVE voters are racist, bigoted, sexist, and actually believe Brexit will usher in a second golden age of British Empire.

I wouldn't mind if they were the only ones to be affected by the extreme social and economic pain on its way, but it'll affect us all and I will never forgive them for wrecking my kids lives.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2133809191630290599.post-37158034036712152902017-04-26T11:44:49.780+01:002017-04-26T11:44:49.780+01:00In fact, Mrs. May's government hasn't yet ...In fact, Mrs. May's government hasn't yet been defeated in the Commons on *any* issue.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Government_defeats_in_the_House_of_Commons_(1945%E2%80%93present)Alannoreply@blogger.com
